Actor and Jaguar ambassador was the latest person to take on the Smart Cone Challenge, following on from Formula One driver Romain Grosjean.
On a low grip surface, Hoult put the Jaguar XF R Sport's all-wheel drive to the test as Jaguar continued its Art of Performance tour around the world. Taking place in Sardinia in August, the challenge pushed both Hoult and the all-wheel drive system to the limit, which sees a series of interactive cones light up in a random order to test reactions, driving skill and precision. With millions of routes possible, it is the true test for accurate driving.
Hoult put up a strong performance, but came second to Grosjean, with the Brit scoring 42,000 compared to the racing driver's 49,032.
The actor uses the Jaguar XF in his new film, Collide, where he stars alongside Felicity Jones, Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley.
After his effort on the Smart Cone Challenge, Hoult said:
I've loved getting behind the wheel of the new Jaguar XF AWD R-Sport. Driving scenes in films can be a challenge – everyone expects you to be a superstar even behind the wheel and I’m definitely not a pro driver – so it’s good to be able to put my skills to the test in a safe environment.
The XF AWD R-Sport is great – it does a lot of the work for you. I was driving on a particularly challenging surface with lots of sand and dust but the car just gripped and performed. It was really fun to be able to compare driving the car here to some of my driving experiences when filming and hopefully I’ve done myself justice!"
