The Geneva Motor Show gave Jaguar the right place to show off the new F-Type SVR, the first 200mph+ mass-production model that Jaguar has made. But to demonstrate that top speed you'll need something a little more dynamic.
Now Michelle Rodriguez, the actress famous for her role as Letty Ortiz in the Fast and Furious series, has pushed SVR to the limit by reaching the 200mph top speed in Nevada - then pushing the limit by reaching 201mph.
As part of the Jaguar Land Rover programme, Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) is an advanced sector of the JLR brand that tunes vehicles towards a more focussed purpose. In the case of the F-Type SVR, this means upgrading the power output of the engine, reducing the body weight and stiffening the chassis for better feel and performance.
Having previously upgraded the Range Rover Sport, this was the first upgraded Jaguar for SVO, and with a fitted rear wing, improved aerodynamics, 5.0-litre 575hp V8 and other high performance parts, this upgraded F-Type is a superb piece of engineering.
Rodriguez was able to smash her own personal top speed of 140mph and at the home of the fastest road race in the world, the Silver State Classic Challenge, the arrow-straight road was ideal for the top speed run.
Having been lightened, tautened and made faster, the F-Type SVR is one of the most exciting Jaguars ever made.
