Research shows that early experience of driving before being thrust onto public roads as a learner driver helps lower the risk of accidents.
With this message in mind Jaguar has launched Jaguar First, a new scheme that offers 11-17 year olds a driving lesson experience in a controlled environment with specially designed road systems.
The youngsters will take to the wheel of a dual control 2.0, 177hp Jaguar XE diesel with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, with lessons conducted by approved driving instructors and intended to mirror the on-road lessons that learners with a provisional licence would receive.
When the novices have learned the basics of car control they'll go on to areas where they learn to negotiate junctions and roundabouts, practice reverse parking and bay parking and drive at speeds of up to 40mph, all in two way traffic. There's even a slalom section!
Six venues will be available to book a Jaguar First driving lesson:
Allianz Park, London
Bath and West Showground, Bath
Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham
Lingfield Park Racecourse, Surrey
Ricoh Arena, Coventry
Sessions can be booked as 30-minute (£45), 60-minute (£89) or 90-minute (£124) experiences and for the social media-savvy youngsters their experience can be filmed for sharing as they wish!
Over 18s are also welcome to book sessions and brush up on their skills, and the 11-17 group can have as many lessons as they'd like too. Jaguar First will also cater for group bookings, ideal for schools.
