Its official – the Jaguar XE is gorgeous
We all know the new Jaguar XE is a stunning looking vehicle – but now it can’t be disputed after the sports saloon was named ‘Most Beautiful Car of 2014’ at Festival Automobile International in Paris.
Director of Design Ian Callum was on hand to pick up the prestigious award at a ceremony held on January 27th at the Hotel des Invalides in front of over 600 guests and more than 60 press.
If you want to get a glimpse of the award winner – the XE will be on display at the ‘Concept Car Exposition’ of Festival Automobile International from January28th until February 1st alongside 18 concept cars, including the Jaguar Project 7.
The ‘Most Beautiful Car of 2014’ award was decided by a public vote - with over 100,000 votes cast across 59 different countries.
Jaguar’s XE managed to come out in front of the Mazda MX-5, Mercedes C-Class Estate and Fiat 500X – taking victory with 28 per cent of the vote.
Opening on 28th January, the Festival Automobile International continues in Paris with a four-day exhibition at the Hotel de Invalides.
This is the XE's second French award since the Paris Motor Show in October 2014, where it was crowned 'Best Production Car' by Auto Plus magazine and the listeners of French radio station, RTL.
The Jaguar XE was first revealed at the Paris Motor Show in October 2014 and is available to order in the UK now, from £26,995.
The XE S model features the same supercharged 3.0-litre V6 used in the Jaguar F-Type, capable of pumping out 335bhp and 450Nm of torque.
An eight-speed automatic gearbox complete with paddle shift controls will propel the driver from 0-60mph in just 4.9 seconds and keep them going all the way to an electronically limited 155mph top speed.
Interior styling is full of the quality traditional Jaguar touches you would expect and features an eight-inch high-definition multimedia touchscreen built into the central console.
This new system introduces super connectivity with apps, mobile phones, voice control and Bluetooth. It is now even possible to start the XE via smartphone, set climate control and other in-car functions.
